Another light food served during Holy Week, Champorado (Spanish: champurrado). It is a sweet chocolate rice porridge – a rice cooked with cocoa powder. To make it tastier, sugar and milk are added.
This soft meal is what I ate for my breakfast as well as lunch on the Black Saturday – Champorado with sugar and powder milk. Some people said that chocolate is not good for person without gallbladder like me, but it seems that my system has totally adjusted to this kind of food. With two meals – breakfast and lunch, I did not experience any upset stomach or any stomach discomfort.
Chocolate could trigger some stomach reactions for others that don’t have gallbladder. But for me, I felt fine after eating and even until retiring to bed, there was no adverse reaction to Champorado.
